We recommend that your pets be up to date on vaccines at least 2 weeks prior to surgery with the DAPP (distemper/parvo - for dogs) or FVRCP (distemper/upper respiratory - for cats) to help prevent disease spread. Vaccination will make it less likely that your pet will either contract a disease or lessen the severity of the disease if your pet does contract it. Vaccinations prior to spay/neuter may be obtained at our vaccine clinic by appointment only, there is no exam fee for this service.
-
Vaccine packages are available at the time of surgery.
-
No food after midnight the night prior to surgery for adult cats and dogs, but water is fine up until surgery. Puppies and kittens under 4 months will need a tablespoon of wet food in the morning prior to surgery.
-
If you have concerns about your pet after surgery, please contact us to schedule a free recheck appointment. Please contact your regular veterinarian or the Southwest Animal Emergency Clinic (435) 673-3191 if you are calling after hours or when our clinic is closed (Fri–Sun).
