The Humane Society of Utah is dedicated to being transparent and accountable for every animal in our care by providing shelter intake and outcome statistics. These intake and outcome statistics are determined using the Data Matrix as calculated by the National Federation of Humane Societies.

This matrix was designed to serve as a tool for basic data collection containing what many (including Asilomar, ASPCA, National Federation, American Humane, UC Davis, Maddie’s Fund, PetSmart Charities and the Humane Society of the United States) have agreed are the minimum data points that a shelter should gather.

These graphs are interactive. You can select various years of data, or view only certain species. The Shelter Animals Count independent, centralized database will update on the 15th of each month.

This information comes from the same database as the graphs above but is arranged in interactive tables instead of graphs for those that prefer a different format.
