The Humane Society of Utah offers spay and neuter services to dogs, cats, and rabbits.

Please review the requirements below to see if your pet qualifies. 

DOGS:

Cost: $300 
Age range: 4 months to 7 years 
Animals over 7 years of age must have a wellness exam and bloodwork to determine safety for surgery.  
Weight range: 4 lbs to 90 lbs 
Vaccinations: Rabies, DAPP (DHPP), and Bordetella.  

  • Must be able to provide proof of current vaccines at check-in for surgery.  
  • Dogs that are not current on vaccines will be rescheduled.   

Surgery Restrictions:  

  • Dogs with heart murmurs or a history of seizures will be referred to full-service veterinary clinics.   
  • Dogs who are showing active signs of illness or are currently on medications, such as antibiotics or steroids, will need to be rescheduled for surgery after their course of treatment is completed. 
  • Animals who have bitten to break skin on a person must undergo a 10-day quarantine prior to surgery.  
  • We reserve the right to refuse service for any animal to whom any procedure is deemed a health risk or too difficult to handle.  

What to expect:  

  • No food after midnight on the night prior to surgery. Please provide water up until drop-off time for surgery. 
  • Dogs must be brought in on a leash.  
  • Surgery check-in: 
    • We will collect payment for services at this time. 
    • If your animal has a history of not doing well with vaccinations or veterinary handling, please let us know so we can determine the best time for your arrival.   
    • Our surgeries begin at 8:30 am. Late arrivals will be rescheduled.   
  • Pick-up times are 4:00-5:30 pm Monday-Friday and 3:00-3:30 pm on Saturday 
  • Clinic staff will discuss aftercare instructions at the time of pick-up. 

Cats: 

 Cost: $150 
Age range: 4 months to 7 years

Weight range: 2 lbs. minimum 
Vaccinations: None

  • We reserve the right to refuse service for any animal to whom any procedure is deemed a health risk.

  • Surgery check-in: 7:30-8:00 am 
  • We will collect payment for services at this time. 
  • Rabbits must be in a well-ventilated carrier. 
  • Rabbits should never be fasted. Please include plenty of food (including hay) and water in your rabbit’s carrier. 
  • Pick-up times are 4:00-5:30pm Monday-Friday and 3:00-3:30 pm on Saturday. 

Clinic staff will discuss aftercare instructions at the time of pick-up.
