I went to the Humane Society to meet a dog my husband and I had seen online. The dog I came in to meet had been adopted just hours before I got there, but I decided to walk through anyway and see who was there that day. I walked past Neo a couple times, then decided to take him outside for a walk. I knew so quickly when we were outside together that I wanted him to come home with me. I called my husband, and he came to meet Neo, and this adorable dog turned on all his charm and won my husband's heart. We took him home that evening.

We have waited so many years to get a dog. After 5 years of allergy shots we are now able to adopt. I met Eddie, (name changed from CJ) and took him for a short walk. He was so sweet, mild mannered and stayed close to me. It was crazy mad dog love on my end! I knew I had found my pet. I was completely overjoyed to find he was 100% house broken. He learned to sit within a couple hours. He goes nuts whenever he hears a "squeaky toy" noise. My son downloaded a squeaky toy app to play with Eddie. Makes my heart happy to see them play. We are a very lucky family to have Eddie. Thank you HS.
My husband and I went to the humane society not knowing what to do. All we knew was we wanted a dog. We looked at all sizes, once I walked passed my shadow's (originally thunder) cage I stopped for a double take of him. I started walking away and he started to bark at me to come back. When I took him out to have some free time I knew the three of us were meant to be. We took him home and he is just the sweetest thing. He tries to be my tiny lap dog all the time. He is everything my husband and I hoped for in a puppy. Thank you HSU for my new baby!
I saw a picture of an adorable Pointer Mix named Chance on the Humane Society website. 2 days later, I went to the shelter and asked to meet him. While we were playing together outside, this huge 11 month old, 60 pound dog sat in my lap and laid his head on my shoulder. I immediately fell in love and adopted him that day. I renamed him Hank, and he has been the greatest dog. We are 2 peas in a pod. We both love being outside and going on adventures.
We adopted Cricket after losing our beloved beagle. We were looking for an older dog that was pretty calm and would love to go on walks. What we got is totally the opposite. When we walked in the door Cricket was in a pen doing her best to get out and something about her little face just called to us.
We have not had a puppy for 22 years so we must be a little crazy. Cricket is the happiest little dog, she is our constant shadow and wants to help with whatever we are doing.
I had wanted a little kitty for quite some time, but was never quite able to get one. Once the time finally came, I was so excited to go find a new friend at HSU! When I saw Lucy, I knew I had to bring her home. She was so timid, and even afraid. She was hiding in the corners of the room and didn't want to come out to say hi. But I knew I could help to make her life better so I adopted her right away. We got her trimmed and all cleaned up, but she was still very afraid for quite a while. She hid under the bed a lot, especially during the day.
I am currently a first year law student with a lot on my plate. I'm also a long-time dog lover, but I've never had my own. A couple of months ago I decided that adopting a furry companion was exactly what I needed to help ease the stress of school. On a whim, I contacted the Humane Society of Utah to see if there were any Pomeranians at the shelter. To my surprise, there was a four-year-old adoptable Pomeranian who had been found wandering South Jordan. From the moment I held Henry in my arms, I knew that I had met my new best friend. We're inseparable.
My husband and I just bought our own home. We have always been around our parents' animals and we noticed we missed that love and companionship having an animal in the home brings. We decided to go look for a cat at the Human Society. This first cat we looked at ended up being the one who stole our hearts! She sat there so quietly and patiently and she was rated one of the best cats with kids!
Jake had no idea about the adventures he was about to embark upon with our family when we met him for the first time and fell helplessly in love with him at the HSU. We lived with Jake in Utah for approximately 6 months before finding out we had an opportunity to live in Canada. As he had become a very loved and important member of our family we did not hesitate to include him in our big move. We drove all the way from Utah to Canada with Jake and discovered how much he enjoys long distance driving.
