Tank's Story

I adopted my baby girl Sisco in February of 2008. When Sisco started slowing down 3 years ago my family decided it was time for a 2nd dog. We found our sweetheart Tank in November of 2014. They are the loves of my life. Thank you for giving great dogs a second chance! Tank was transferred from another shelter and Sisco had been adopted twice and returned. I couldn't ask for more amazing dogs!!

Ellie's Story

We had to put down our 15-year-old pug and we all were just hurting. We went in with a dog in mind but we decided she wouldn't have been a good fit for us. The volunteer that was working the front desk was so helpful and so kind. She helped us get Ellie. She is so well behaved. She rescued us and we rescued her. I want to say thank you for helping us and for all you do. It was a very pleasant experience and you all do an amazing job with all the fur babies.

Tank's Story

We adopted Tank just before Thanksgiving a year and a half ago. His name at the time was Dodge. He was a quite a goofball. He has had some separation anxiety. We have worked with him and he keeps us all on a tight schedule. He is turning out to be a really fantastic dog. We love him so much and love to take him camping. He has been a great addition to our family.

Family dog sentenced to death under archaic Utah law

MURRAY, UT (May 24, 2017) -- Humane Society of Utah defends Santaquin family dog from death

A Santaquin, Utah family dog named Dexter has been sentenced to death under an archaic city ordinance. Dexter, a male 5-year-old Australian Shepherd, escaped the Bray family’s fenced backyard and allegedly bit a teenage girl. According to the police report, “the bite did not break any skin.” The Humane Society of Utah believes a death penalty is an overreaction based on the city ordinance’s broad definition of a vicious dog.

Munchie's Story

Muchie came to us a couple of months after losing our family dog of 14 years. My family was torn apart by the loss of our dog.
We came to the Humane Society with our daughter who was looking for a cat. We had no intention of replacing Rosie but while we were about to leave (without a cat) in came Muchie from a walk with one of your volunteers. Her sweet spirit melted our hearts and we knew she was meant to be with us.

Harley's Story

I adopted Harley back on April 03-04 (I can't remember the exact date) and I just remember we were going to the shelter to look at dogs after our other dog we had adopted had passed away of old age. Well, of course, we found a bunch of dogs we loved and went to the front to inquire about them. When I went up front to ask about the other dogs the girl asked me "Did you see Harley?" - I looked at my list and said no..no Harley. She said can I show you Harley? I said sure. In a Kennel scared and a little intimidated was a black and white Aussie, named Harley.

Flower's Story

For a good 2 months, my family and I were looking for the perfect fit for us. We then came across Flower on the HSU website and thought we could go visit her. The following day, we drove all the way down from Vineyard to see this cute pup. We went to her kennel and started playing with her. She looked so happy! Flower immediately started licking all of us and everyone grew a love for her in just a few moments of meeting her! Now almost 9 months later, that little scruffy puppy is our family's best friend. And boy is she loved.

Benny's Story

I adopted Benny about two years ago. He was so timid and skittish. He was afraid of people and other dogs. He'd flinch when you went to pet him. He didn't know how to play with toys. With love and patience, Benny has become the dog he was always meant to be and I'm grateful to have him in our family. He loves snuggles, playing fetch, learning new tricks, and going to doggy day care. As you can see from the video here, he especially loves being picked up from doggy day care.

Chip's Story

I was able to have another family member come into our lives... His name is CHIP. He could not have been a better fit for our family and my other dog Saydee. We love him so much and it has only been 2 days. Thank you very much for allowing us to have him.
