I adopted my cat Jane (I never changed her name because it fit her so well) in July of 2015 after the death of my previous cat. I was completely heartbroken. After a few weeks of mourning my beloved Ivy, I decided that there were more animals in need of homes that I could love and give a new chance at life, and could love me in return. I spent three hours wandering the Humane Society. I probably spent time with every cat there. I finally walked past a room with a paper on the window reading all about Jane from her previous foster family. I went into the room and she immediately rubbed her head on my leg. I sat in the room with her for about twenty minutes before being absolutely sure that I wasn’t going anywhere unless I had Jane right there with me. I walked out to the desk and told the volunteer that I was adopting Jane, and my then two-year-old baby has just turned four, and I could not be more thankful for the Humane Society for introducing me to the light of my life. I don’t know where I would be without her.
