Pancake's Story

I fostered a beautiful Flame Point Siamese named Pancake. He was ten years old and turned in because of another pet. He was adopted and brought back because someone was allergic to him and I felt bad and decided to adopt him myself. It was kitten season and at that time it is harder for older cats to get adopted. He was stressed out and I had trouble with him urinating on my carpet and he had been checked out by the vet and there was no bladder problems just behavioral issues. For a long time I kept him in the bathroom when I was away or in bed at night.

Rugby's Story

In November 1996, I adopted an orange and white tabby cat from the Humane society of Utah. I named him Rugby and he was never apart from me after that. I grew up, got married, moved from apartments to new homes. I started a family and all along he was there beside me. He lived a long, healthy life and passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 12, 2016. Thank you so much for allowing me the opportunity to bring him into a loving home, and for all the services you continue to provide at the Humane Society of Utah.

Polly's Story

I wanted to send a thank you for allowing me to adopt Polly on 08/03/16. I went to the Humane Society after leaving the Vets office. Sadly I had to have a rescue cat that I had cared for put to sleep. She had Breast Cancer. I wanted to find another cat that needed a good home & to distract me from the loss of Lily. Polly has distracted me for sure. As you can see, she has made herself right at home. The description of her on the card was spot on. I can't go into another room without her trotting by my side. So far she has not tried to go outside which I'm happy about.

Luna's Story

We adopted Luna, an older black lab from the HSU around 4.5 years ago. She was gray, scared, and had a limp. I bet a lot of people walked past this wonderful animal before we came around. Luna was sweet, and seemed very smart. She convinced us to adopt her by rolling over when we asked. She turned out to be the best dog I've ever had. She was smart, sweet, well behaved, good with people and other dogs. Not so good with deer, raccoons and skunks. My family loved her so much. I often thought that I would love to meet her former owners and ask why on earth they would give her up.

Socii's Story

When we adopted Socii (previously Lokie, but the names were similar enough that he made the switch right away!), we were looking for an anxiety support animal. I was having horrible insomnia, nightmares, and trouble sleeping. I had previously owned rats that were content to be held at all hours of the day. whenever I needed something to calm me down, but they died quite early in their lives and I was left without a pet. My parents took me to the shelter and I looked around for a cat.

Naomi's Story

Our two little dogs are Mia and Browny. They were adopted 7-8 years ago when I was 7. We had gone down just to look. When me and my mom got there from the store my dad who didn't understand just look, had decided he liked the miniature pinscher he was looking at. After discussing it my parents decided we could get him. Deciding he needed a friend we went back in to look for another small dog. We found Mia behind the door. My dad brought her out and we decided on her too. Now Mia is my best friend and we do everything together. In December of 2015 we decided to adopt another dog.

Aerie's Story

We adopted the most beautiful Russian blue about 12 years ago from HSU. Her name is Aerie (a.k.a. Aerie bear) She is the most wonderful cat in the world with quite the personality. She loves everyone she meets and is great with our other cats. She likes to play mama bear with them and she takes great care of the clowder when I'm away. Her favorite things are; rolling in the grass on a warm day, greeting guests at the door, sleeping on your lap right before you want to get up, and giving love bites to your toes that stick out of the blanket at 6am ish.

Lulu's Story

I adopted Lulu in October of 2014 or should I say she adopted me. I wasn't planning to adopt at that time as I was having many health problems. Little did I know, Lulu was exactly what I needed. She has brought such a joy and happiness to my life. We are inseparable from traveling on planes, going to the lake and shopping together. She is the greatest blessing and I am so grateful to HSU for bringing us together. Thank you for giving me my best friend.

Bella's Story

I actually went to HSU trying to adopt a dachshund but someone had already adopted him. So I decided to walk around little town and look at all he other doggies and that's went I saw my Bella, it was love at first sight. We instantly connected, although she was shy at first, she got comfortable when I took her for a walk and that's the moment I knew I had to take her home with me. It's been a week now and this little one has changed my life completely, I'm so grateful for the help that I received from the employees at the Humane Society.
