Bruno's Story

Bruno 2011 - HSUApproximately 10 years ago my family and I decided to see if there were any pets that we might be interested in adopting from the humane society working through PETCO. We thought that our odds of finding a good fit for our home would be slim since the dogs shown today were abused. I was under the impression that all abused dogs would be defensive and make horrible pets, however, I was completely wrong!

I was 7 years old that day out front of PETCO. It may sound silly, but the moment I saw that hug, chubby newfoundland/lab mix "Bruno," I knew it was love at first sight! He was so friendly that I didn't believe it when I was told that he had been abused and his nose had been broken with a pipe by his previous owner. My family was so impressed by his sweet demeanor that we immediatly decided to bring him home.

Bruno 2011 - HSUThat was one of the best decisions that we ever made as a family! Bruno has the funniest personality and, even at 100 pounds, proved to be a gentle and caring dog safe to have around the little children that lovingly nicknamed him, "The Bear." Bruno is truly one of the family, and has made a great older brother for his little sister Lily, a intelligent and funny cocker spaniel.

Now that I am going off to college, my family constantly teases that I will drop out as soon as I get there because I will miss my Bruno so much.

Thank you Humane Society for working so hard to give pets a second chance at having a good home!

-Love, Silver and Bruno
