Poker Tournament Fundraiser "Update"

ONE OF SALT LAKE’S MOST VENERABLE INSTITUTIONS...HAS FINALLY GONE TO THE DOGS! THE PIPER DOWN CLUB...AN OLDE WORLD PUB...PLAYED HOST TO THE UTAH POKER TOUR...AND A PAIR OF POOCHES APPROPRIATELY NAMED SHAY AND GUINESS FROM THE HUMANE SOCIETY OF UTAH!

BELLY RUBS BROUGHT LOTS OF LUCK... AND A BIG DONATION FROM JEREMY KOPP WHO RAISED MORE THAN 11-HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR ALL THE ANIMALS HERE AT THE HUMANE SOCIETY! KOPP IS THE OWNER OF UtahPokerTour.com AND HE SAYS “I have a big heart for dogs and being the owner of a company I’ve always wanted to give back and do something for a good cause and the Humane Society of Utah was my first choice.”

KOPP GOES ON TO SAY, “Everybody here at this tournament is either donating their time and paying ten dollars to enter. It’s a beautiful day today and these people could be doing a lot of other things... spending time in the park with their own families and their own pets but they’re here, they’re giving back and it’s great to see everyone support this cause.”

BEFORE THEY SHUFFLED THE DECK AT PIPER DOWN...THERE WERE PLENTY OF LONG DRIVES DOWN AT OLD MILL... DOG LOV’IN DUFFERS TEED IT UP TO RAISE EVEN MORE MONEY FOR PUPS LIKE DASHA, AN ADORABLE 4 MONTH OLD PIT BULL “BLEND,” WHO WAS ON HAND TO MEET AND GREET THE GOLFERS AT THE 17TH HOLE.

AFTER A GREAT ROUND WITH A FULL FIELD...EVERYONE HEADED FOR HOG WALLOW...THE FAMOUS WATERING HOLE SERVING AS THE 19TH HOLE ... WHERE GENEROSITY CONTINUED TO FLOW...AND EVEN MORE DONATIONS WERE MADE BENEFITTING THE HUMANE SOCIETY OF UTAH.

SO FROM CHIPS TO CHIP SHOTS...OUR ANIMALS WERE THE BIG WINNERS DURING A WEEKEND OF POOCHES, POKER AND PUTTS! HATS OFF TO HOG WALLOW AND THE UTAH POKER TOUR! OUR CATS AND DOGS THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Poker Tournament Fundraiser

Dogs playing poker? Not exactly. But thanks to the Utah Poker Tour, the dogs and cats at the Humane Society of Utah will benefit from all of the “card sharks” who enter the Tours’ first charity event benefiting the HSU.

All dealers will be donating their time and Jeremy Kopp, who operates the Utah Poker Tour, has generously promised to donate all of the Tour proceeds raised at this charity event, which includes a silent auction, give-aways and prizes.

They’ll start shuffling the decks and dealing cards at 2 p.m. on Sunday June 6 at the Piper Down an olde world pub which is located at 1452 South State Street.
