HSU EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TO RECEIVE ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FROM U of U
This evening Humane Society of Utah’s Executive Director Gene Baierschmidt will be presented with the Quintus C. Wilson Alumni Achievement Award in ceremonies held at the Little America Hotel. The Wilson Award is given to former students and faculty members of the University of Utah’s Communications Department who have gone on to distinguish themselves in other areas of public service. Mr. Baierschmidt, who received his Master’s degree in communications from the University in 1981, was a Teaching Assistant in that department from 1978 to 1981.
In choosing Mr. Baierschmidt for this honor, the Awards board said, "Your outstanding professional accomplishments and distinguished representation of our department received our faculty’s unanimous endorsement."
Mr. Baierschmidt says, "I’m honored that the Committee would select me to be a recipient of this award. It’s always gratifying to be recognized by one’s peers. Over the years in my career with the Humane Society of Utah I’ve been able to make good use of the training and preparation I received from this Department to help animals."
Humane Society officials also voiced their gratitude and appreciation for all that Mr. Baierschmidt has accomplished for that organization during his 20 years as its Executive Director.
