HUMANE SOCIETY GIVING FREE HOLIDAY GIFTS

WITH ALL ADULT DOG ADOPTIONS IN DECEMBER

Santa Paws has arrived early at the Humane Society of Utah’s shelter located at 4242 South 300 West in Murray. Throughout the month of December, any dog one year of age or older will receive a free holiday gift of a high-quality collar and leash with his or her adoption.

"These are items that would sell for anywhere between $10 and $15 each in retail stores and are guaranteed for life," says HSU Executive Director Gene Baierschmidt, "and they were given to us by a generous donor who wishes to remain anonymous." The reason for the donation, he says, is that during the holiday season almost everyone wants puppies, and the older dogs are too frequently overlooked.

"Adult dogs have many advantages," said Mr. Baierschmidt. "They’re calmer, more loyal to their people, and often already have a significant amount of training. So we want to make this season a very special and very happy one for these undiscovered treasures."

All the dogs at the Humane Society of Utah are already spayed or neutered and have their first shots. The adoption fee for an adult dog is $75, except for those animals classified as VIP pets, and the shelter is open from 10 AM to 7 PM Monday through Saturday and from noon to 4 PM on Sunday.

For more information, please call 261-2919.
