HUMANE SOCIETY OF UTAH GOING WILD!
- SEA WORLD ANIMALS TO VISIT LOCAL SHELTER
On Friday, March 25, the Humane Society of Utah will play host to some of the most exotic animals the shelter has ever seen when the facility is visited by Julie Scardina, Sea World and Busch Gardens
Animal Ambassador. She will be accompanied not only by her dog, Liberty, whom she adopted from the Humane Society in 2002, but also by a variety of creatures from the famous animal parks at Sea World San Diego in California and Busch Gardens Tampa in Florida.
Ms. Scardina, a frequent guest on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Jack Hanna's Animal Adventures, will be at the Humane Society from 1:00 to 2:00 PM this Friday to talk about pet adoption, pet training, and the importance of good animal stewardship and conservation.
During her presentation, Ms. Scardina will talk about how she chose Liberty, her personal companion animal, and will share information on what types of animals make good pets and how the
positive-reinforcement training techniques used at Sea World with killer whales and dolphins are the same methods to use with pets at home. She will also introduce Pete and Penny, two Magellan penguins from Sea World San Diego, and animals from Florida's Busch Gardens Tampa, including a lemur, an alligator, a snake, and birds of prey. Ms. Scardina will explain how these and other creatures are perfect examples of why everyone needs to be aware of environmental issues and show respect for all living beings.
The Humane Society is located at 4242 South 300 West, and the public is welcome to attend this free, exciting, and educational event. For more information, please call Carlene Wall at 261-2919, ex. 209, or Darla Davis, Sea World Public Relations Representative, at (619) 666-8154.
