IS YOUR BEST BOYFRIEND CATTING AROUND? THE HUMANE SOCIETY CAN HELP

Are you thinking of changing your male cat’s name to "Xerox"? Does every new litter of stray kittens in the neighborhood look suspiciously like that furry fellow who shares your home and your heart? Are you tired of being double-timed by that irresponsible Ro-meow of yours? The Humane Society of Utah can reform him. Throughout the month of June, until all available appointments are booked up, any male cat will be surgically neutered by our veterinarians for only $15 per animal.

Male cats are capable of impregnating a single female as often as three times a year, and the resulting litters average between four and six kittens. These in turn can reproduce at the same prolific rate. That’s why shelters across the country are flooded with homeless, unwanted felines.

"The $15 price is below our cost to perform the operation," says HSU Executive Director Gene Baierschmidt, "and the clinic will actually be losing money. But the best way to deal with the tragedy of pet overpopulation is to keep it from starting in the first place. Most people have no idea of how prolifically cats can breed. So many kittens’ unnecessary suffering and death can be prevented so easily, and at this price there’s just no excuse to let your male cat father so many of these doomed babies. Paying $15 to make sure that he never creates a litter of kittens who will probably have to be put to sleep is the bargain of the century."

The surgery must be scheduled in advance by calling 261-2919, ex. 230, and available appointments will be gone quickly, so please call at once to have this safe and simple procedure done as soon as possible.

After all, you want a calm, loving feline companion in your family, not a copy machine.
