"TAG-ALONG" SPECIAL AT HUMANE SOCIETY - ID TAGS FREE WITH DOG ADOPTIONS IN APRIL

Throughout the month of April, any dog adopted from the Humane Society of Utah’s shelter at 4242 South 300 West will automatically receive, free or at minimal cost, a handsome metal identification tag engraved on both sides with the animal’s name and other information.

These tags are available to the public at a cost of $5 for a colored tag or $6 for a chrome-plated one, and can be purchased at any time; however, during April the colored tags will be provided at no charge with each dog adoption, and the chrome tags can be bought by a dog adopter for only $1.

"We can’t stress too often how important proper ID is for companion animals," says HSU Executive Director Gene Baierschmidt. "Even the most responsible dog owners can become separated from their pets, and a tag that gives all the important information - at a minimum, the dog’s name, address, and phone number - can make the difference between disaster and joy."

The Humane Society tags are a bargain under any circumstances, he added. "Many commercial pet stores sell tags that are engraved on one side only and may cost up to twice what ours do," said Mr. Baierschmidt. "No dog’s caregiver should pass up the opportunity to protect a best friend so easily, and it’s a terrific way to start an adoption out on the right paw by getting the tag as part of the whole package." Adoption fees at the Humane Society also include the animal’s spay or neuter surgery, de-worming, first shots, and a leash.
