SALT LAKE COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES TO VOLUNTEER AT HUMANE SOCIETY

Starting today and continuing every Thursday for the next six weeks, officers from the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Department will be at the Humane Society of Utah’s shelter, located at 4242 South 300 West, to volunteer their services on behalf of the animals there. From 1:00 to 5:00 PM, as many as 20 deputies will be on hand to walk dogs, socialize with the cats and rabbits, and assist potential adopters who visit the shelter.

"We think this is a great way to get two important community-service groups involved with each other," says HSU Executive Director Gene Baierschmidt. "We’re happy to work with the County Sheriff’s Department in forming a strong sense of cooperation, and we hope that having the officers around interacting with the animals will encourage a lot of people to come out and adopt some of the many wonderful cats and dogs and small mammals that we have here."

For more information, please call the Humane Society at 261-2919.
