UTAH JAZZ EVENT, "MARDI GRAS IN THE MOUNTAINS," TO BENEFIT HUMANE SOCIETY

On Wednesday, March 21st, the Bobbye and Jerry Sloan Hand-in-Hand Foundation will sponsor its first local fund raising event, whose proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of Utah, among other charities. At 6:30 PM, the "Mardi Gras in the Mountains" celebrity-waiter dinner will begin at The Point Restaurant at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Local celebrities, including Jazz Head Coach Jerry Sloan and members of the Jazz basketball team, will be waiting patrons’ tables at the event.

Sponsorship packages are still available, and individual tickets cost $125 per person. There will be both silent and live auctions as well. The goal of the Hand-in-Hand Foundation is to assist our community by helping individuals and organizations with the financial support they need to help them reach their full potential, and it focuses on groups primarily interested in, among other things, education, conservation, and animal welfare. Humane Society Executive Director Gene Baierschmidt says, "We’re very honored to be one of the beneficiaries of the first-ever ‘Mardi Gras in the Mountains.’ Before her untimely passing, Bobbye Sloan was a strong supporter of our shelter, and her Foundatioin continues that legacy."

Seating is limited, so interested persons should obtain tickets as soon as possible. These are available at the HSU facility located at 4242 South 300 West, or they can be ordered from the Foundation itself at 3945 S. Wasatch Boulevard #218, Salt Lake City, UT 84124.

For more information, please call HSU at 261-2919 or Kathy Sloan Wood at (402) 871-6223. Information is also available at www.utahhumane.org and klw36jazz@indy.rr.com.
