LADY CATS GET LUCKY AT HUMANE SOCIETY CLINIC THROUGHOUT OCTOBER

Throughout October the Humane Society of Utah clinic will be spaying all female cats for only $21 instead of the usual $29 cost, which represents an incredible savings to the public and a priceless benefit to the felines. "Do you have any idea what the price of this surgery can run at some clinics?" asks HSU Executive Director Baierschmidt. "There just isn’t any conceivable excuse not to have the procedure done when the cost is this low."

The primary objective, he says, is to get as many cats as possible sterilized to help reduce the tragic pet overpopulation problem. "Theoretically, a single unspayed female cat and her unspayed offspring can produce nearly 50,000 more cats in ten years. That’s fifty thousand cats, almost all of whom will have nowhere to go and will die in pounds or on the streets! And all of that suffering and waste of life could be prevented for $21. We’re hoping to be able to do a record number of cat spays this month."

The safe, simple operation also makes a cat calmer, friendlier to people, and healthier. "The spayed animal will never suffer ovarian tumors and is far less likely to develop diseases like breast cancer and uterine infections," Mr. Baierschmidt points out, "and they will never engage in the annoying yowling and roaming that are so characteristic of cats in heat. For the sake of the cat you have now, and to prevent the needless suffering of thousands of unwanted kittens in the future, we’re urging everyone with an unspayed female cat to take advantage of this great opportunity."

Spay surgeries are done in the HSU clinic by appointment only. To schedule your cat’s surgery, please call 261-2919, ex. 230.
