SECOND HEARING SET FOR MAN WHO PUT DOG IN OVEN - HUMANE SOCIETY WANTS JUSTICE DONE
Marc C. Vincent, who is charged with two counts of aggravated cruelty to animals after allegedly having chased and cornered his wife’s dog, Henry, with a leaf-blower and then placing the animal in a 200° oven for five minutes, will appear in court again on Monday, September 18th, at 1:30 PM. Vincent refused to speak to reporters after his initial pre-trial hearing last week, and his attorney has asked for more time to review the evidence in the case. Judge William Barrett appears to want to hear the case in short order, however, and officials of the Humane Society of Utah plan to be in court on Monday to monitor the progress of the incident.
HSU Executive Director Gene Baierschmidt says, "Even though the toughest penalty that can be imposed right now on Marc Vincent if he’s found guilty is that of a Class A misdemeanor, we hope the court will give the maximum possible sentence, including jail time. People should be made to see that when they inflict horrible torture on a living being less competent than the aggressor to defend itself, they aren’t going to walk away scot-free."
The hearing will take place in room W39 of the Matheson Courthouse Building, 450 S. State Street.
