With temperatures along the Wasatch Front plunging into the low teens, the Humane Society of Utah reminds the community that this means inconvenience, discomfort, and danger for EVERYONE, including the non-human members of the population. Animals' hair coats do not provide adequate protection against the bitter cold that will be punishing our area, and the Society urges people to use both common sense and compassion when it comes to the animals in their care.

MAN WHO PUT DOG IN OVEN SENTENCED TO JAIL TIME, FINED

"We’re pleased that Marc Vincent was sentenced to six months in jail, two years’ probation, and a $500 fine for what he did to Henry. At the same time, we still believe that a felony provision for intentionally torturing an animal would serve as a deterrent to having people even think about doing it. It would show that in Utah animal torture is treated as a serious crime."

MAN WHO PUT DOG IN OVEN TO BE SENTENCED MONDAY

Marc Vincent, the man who last May put his wife’s dog into a 200° oven for five minutes and later pleaded guilty to one count of cruelty to animals, will be sentenced in Third District Court at 9:00 AM on Monday, November 6. The sentencing will take place in Room W39 of the Matheson Courthouse, 450 S. State Street. Under current Utah law, his crime is classified as a Class A misdemeanor, and the maximum penalty that could be imposed would be a year in jail and a $2,500 fine.
