Both local businesses and ordinary members of the community can show their support for homeless animals by sponsoring a dog kennel at the Humane Society of Utah’s autumn Pet Fest on October 12-14, which will be held at the HSU shelter located at 4242 South 300 West.

"OZZIE," POMERANIAN SHOT BY NEIGHBOR, DIES Thursday, September 20, 2007
On September 10th, a small Pomeranian dog belonging to Ryan and MaLissa Pahl, was shot by their neighbor, Gary Griffiths, while horrified children watched the event. Griffiths then pointed the gun at Mr. Pahl and police were summoned. Griffiths was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, discharging a firearm within city limits, and criminal mischief.

LITTLE DOGS GET BIG DEAL AT HUMANE SOCIETY - "PETITE PALS" TRAINING Thursday, September 13, 2007
This fall the Humane Society of Utah is hosting a new basic obedience course on Wednesday evenings designed specifically for dogs weighing 30 pounds or less. The new class, taught by professional "Handle with Care" dog trainer Michelle Rizzi, allows smaller breeds to receive basic training in a relaxed environment without the distraction of perceived threats from bigger dogs.
