FELONY-LEVEL ANIMAL TORTURE BILL PASSES IN SENATE ---LANDMARK LEGISLATION COULD MAKE HISTORY Wednesday, February 27, 2008
Today, by a vote of 21-6, the Utah State Senate has successfully passed SB 297, the compromise bill that would make the deliberate torture of a cat or dog a third-degree felony on the first offense, and leaves the current animal cruelty code intact. It will now go to the House of Representatives, and if it passes there, Utah will become the 44th state in America to have a felony-level animal protection law on the books.

UTAH COULD HAVE LANDMARK LEGISLATION FOR CATS AND DOGS Monday, February 25, 2008
Today SB 279, a bill sponsored by Sen. Allen Christensen, was introduced in the Senate Human Resources Committee and passed unanimously from there to the Senate floor. HUMANE SOCIETY CALLS PRESS CONFERENCE --- SB 117 MUST BE STOPPED Wednesday, February 06, 2008
On Thursday, February 7th, at 12:00 noon, the Humane Society of Utah and the Animal Advocacy Alliance of Utah will hold a press conference inside the lobby of the Senate East Building (just west of the cafeteria) to explain why it is imperative that SB 117, sponsored by Sen. Allen Christensen (R-Ogden), must be blocked.
