HUMANE SOCIETY OF UTAH DEVOTES MONTH OF MARCH TO "CLEANING OUT THE CATHOUSE"
From now until the end of the month, all cats five months of age and older can be adopted from the Humane Society of Utah’s shelter at 4242 South 300 West for half the usual fee, or only $24.50 per animal. "We have some real knockouts at the shelter right now," says HSU Executive Director Gene Baierschmidt. "If they held feline beauty pageants, any one of the pulchritudinous pussycats here could strut away with the crown."

LANDMARK LEGISLATION PASSES! UTAH NOW 44TH STATE WITH FELONY-LEVEL ANIMAL LAW
Today history was made in the Utah State Legislature when SB 297, the compromise bill that makes the deliberate torture of a cat or dog a third-degree felony on the first offense, passed in the House of Representatives by a vote of 62-6, with 7 members absent, after having gone through the Senate with 21 supporting votes and only 6 opposed.

HUMANE SOCIETY OFFERS SPECIAL ON HEARTWORM TESTING
Starting tomorrow, March 4th, and continuing through the end of the month, the Humane Society of Utah will be offering heartworm tests for dogs at a special price of only $15 per dog instead of the regular $21 fee at the Society's clinic, if at the same time the animal’s caregiver also purchases a one-year’s supply of Tri-Heart heartworm preventive medication.
